SALTILLO, Coahuila, July 23, 2008.- United
States got a confortable victory over
Costa Rica in straight sets 25-12, 25-14,
25-11 starting the second day of the
preliminary round of Norceca Women’s
Junior Tournament.
Without difficulties the Americans
established their better level for their
first success after losing to the
Dominicans in matches of Pool A.
The best scorer of the match was Hayley
Spelman who scored 15 points, 9 in attack
and 6 defending at the net, while her
teammate Shadare McNeal added 11. For the
little Costa Ricans, Angie Arias was the
best of their squad with 10.
Paula Weishoff, coach of USA: “The team
went out to executed the plan we had, we
worked well nulifying their serve and in
general the game os the Costa Ricans, who
are small but have very good control of
the ball and can attain good improvement.”
Julio C. Alfaro,coach of Costa Rica: “The
game was not what I expected, although
facing the United States is tough because
always they are a team going for the gold,
you have to respect them.”
Darcy Dorton, captain of United States:
“Today was much better than yesterday, the
goal today was to olat our game without
worrying about theirs, who I think played
good.”
Allison Ramírez, captain of Costa Rica:
“United States played very well, we did
our best, we have to continue learning
from teams like this one.” |
